Been trying to get appointment for 3 days. 3min 8 oclock said all appointments have gone [writing not clear = so mad. My dad] had to take my husband to the hospital. Needed antibiotics. Doctor said he was very bad.

Sorry to hear you could not get an appointment with us during that time. Yes, over the xmas period the demand does go mad, and it's impossible for us to offer everyone who contacts us, an appointment. It's physically not possible. This is even when we add extra urgent appointments onto our rota. They get snapped up by other ill patients in an instant. We have 9000 patients on our list. In these situations, we do need patients and relatives to use other routes to get help. Thank you.

Wed 14th December - Anchor Meadow (Portland Medical Practice). We wante to thank everyone at the practice, from GP, Reception and Nurses, who have really supported us politely, professionaly and kindly - consistently, and regularly, going 'over and above' for us. As we are housebound and I care for Dad 24/7 I can only go out briefly when a Carer is with Dad, so it makes all the difference to me as is genuinely appreciated, including the home visits, rapid response team, diabetic nurse, repeat presription etc. A very happy christma and New Year to you all ! I saw Dr Sayyid on Friday 11th, calling for an appointment was easy, and I had no problems. The receptionist was so nice + displayed good phone skills, I think her name was Jenny (not sure). Dr was wonderful, very impressed.

Today 15th December I had an appointment at 9 o- clock to see a Doctor, got to the surgery at 8-50 signed in and sat down to wait, after twenty minutes while everyone else was being seen , I aksed the lady asistant behind the counter if the Doctor was in l she asked his name, she went to look see if he was available, they didn't know where he was ? After half hour another Doctor saw me and he was very helpful, which I thank him for. If I was late for an appointment or didn't turn up for an appointment they tell us how much it as cost the NHS. I am a bit disappointed. From XX.

Really sorry about this. I'm dissapointed too. The doctor you were meant to see had not updated us that they would not be coming to work due to their illness. Thank you for being kind enough to accept our appology when we rang you in the afternoon. We have now put up some signs in the waiting area to ask patients if they are waiting for more than 15 min, to let reception staff know.

We see people face to face all the time, so I'm not sure what the problem is here. You simply fill out an eConsult or ring reception staff. Then based on the information you provide, you either get a direct face to face appointment, or the Dr can ring or email you to help you quicker. Thank you

Fair point. This was the time when we actually had a totally new set of swabs sent to us by the NHS, and we had to alter the way in which we do the swabs for MRSA. I did speak to the nurse and she was fully aware of this change and she was just double checking to make sure we didn't mess it up, and then have to ask you to return later. Thanks for your patience.

Sally Ann has been helping me with my C.O.P.D. my breathing has improved immensley now that she changed my inhaler, I feel like a new man now, not getting out of breath and with more energy no than I have had for years. The surgery was clean and gave you concise information to wear a face masks you came in because some staff had covid, such appreciated, {maybe you should be running the government}. Thank you for caring. I had an appointment with Dr Julie Harrison. As usual she listens to the patient. Puts you at ease. Try to sort your problems out. Is a credit to her chosen profession and is a godsend to Portland Practice. It is a rare thing in todays world, to be able to complaint such a rare professional and to trust them. Exceptional doctor. Pleasure to visit Portland as far as I am concerned Dr Harrison should be number one doctor at Portland. But Dr Sagoo is quickly coming up to nearly be joint number one. Patient confidentiality is not very good when microphone on reception blare out across the waiting area - needs to be changed.
More F2F appointments required to avoid duplication and more resources required. 1 visit instead of a phone call & then appt F2F not best use of resources.

Thank you for pointing this out. I will look into the sensitivity and loudness of the speaker system. Yes, you are correct that sometimes there is an extra step in getting an appointment. This was actually mandatory during the height of covid, as per NHS recommendation. That is to say, we were ordered to assess what help you needed over the phone, rather than allowing you to book Face 2 Face appointments directly yourself. This has all changed now though, so now we do allow people to book appointments F2F themselves if they think that is needed. Thank you for the constructive feedback.

The 45-min wait sounds terrible. Our apologies. That is not common, thankfully. Regarding the 2-week wait, it is certainly not a joke. It is very good when compared to many other GP practices. We can usually see people within a week or two. Our reception staff get praise from other patients all the time, so sorry you were not happy this time. Thank you.

We jad to return to this 2nd appt for a blood test as the 1st appt that was booked on Mon 4/7/22 4.45pm (for a blood test + blood pressure test) was too late for the bloods to be sent away. I have seen Dr Sagoo twice in the last couple of weeks after an initial telephone contact. He is very professional, really listens and takes time to discuss and explain treatment options. I used the E consult as a starting point and to follow up. It's very repetitive and lengthy. I'm not sure why given it is an E system that it can only be accessed in restricted hours. It makes it quite clear that responses are only doing surgery hours and provides sign posting to out of hours provision. However, the response to my request was prompy and gave me the right support. The nature of GP has changed however I have been reassured by the assessment and treatment of this problem that the right support is available.

They repeatedly asked me the same question when I clearly stated what I wanted done. They treated me like a 5 year old and spoke down to me which made me uncomfotable. Also looked like they don't put the patients views or interests at heart. Very annoyed my daughter had to go through that!

Unfortunately, we cannot provide appointments ASAP if they have all gone for the day. We have a limit on how much appointments we can offer. However, if we are full, then we always direct you to other clinicians who can help you. Yes, it's definitely more trouble and work for you compared to seeing us in the practice, but if you are worried about your loved one's then you have a responsibility to take those steps. Thank you.

On Friday March 11th, I had an arranged appointment with Dr Shah in Room 113 at 3.15p.m. This was a verbal consultation re pains and flow problems. I have been experiencing for 6 weeks plus re urinary tract and urone flow. It was also an arranged Digital Rectum Examination to probe I feel the prostate gland. I have never written one of these before - but feel I have to. Dr Shah's verbal delivery, clarity and detailed explanation was SUPERB. she seems a knowledgable, yet understated indivisual who creates a sense of calmness in daling with potentially difficult subject areas. The whole process of examination,into antigen test via blood test, into scanning was so clear and delivered in such a complete way. she is a credit to her profession and the practice. We used to have toys there, but it's against infection control policy. Can you imagine all the spit, snot, and bugs on the toys. Most parents use YouTube videos on their phone to keep them busy. The Clinician was likely running late due to helping the previous patient. Thanks for the feedback.
