Strategic Business Manager, Anchor Meadow Health Centre
Mr Chris Blunt takes overall responsibility for managing the practice. Specific responsibilities relate to the financial well-being of the practice, administrative management, responsibility for the staff and managing the daily running of the surgery. Chris manages the development of quality of patient care in the practice in line with the Quality and Outcomes Framework, a set of national standards to which our GPs work.
He also sits on various Work Groups that have been set up by Walsall Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) including being an active member of the Walsall South East CCG who have input to the Commissioning of services from local Healthcare Providers.
Chris has recently been invited to chair the Walsall Practice Managers forum.
Assistant Practice Manager
Ali Brain is the Assistant Practice Manager. Her duties include assisting the Practice Manager in the daily running of the surgery, maintaining the surgery's appointment system and dealing with any queries which the receptionists are unable to answer. Ali also has significant involvement in designing and testing new systems intended to further develop the care we provide to our patients.
Sabrina Ruffles is currently in a managment development role, lead contact for the PPG, investigates complaints and significant events.
Adam Noble manages the service company of the bulidng Anchor Meadow Management Ltd but is also currently in a management development role. He also submits claims via CQRS, Website Design and Socia Media.
Angela Kelly the Office Manager, is able to deal with patient's first line queries. Please ask to speak to her in the first instance. Angela will pass the query on to the Strategic Business Manager if neccessary.
The Team are; Linda Hood, Abigail Hughes, Lisa Allen, Sarah Cambridge and Karen Durrant.
All our care coordinators are here to help you. They have extensive knowledge of the facilities and services available. If you are unsure about anything, do please ask. If you wish to speak in private please ask to do so.
Other Members Of Senior Staff
Karen Hewitt, Julie Macey and Sheena Williams.
Karen is responsible for administering various areas such as insurance company/medical reports, all patient registrations,summarising, carers co-ordinator. Julie and Sheena are trained to summarise clinical records on behalf of the Doctors. Karen also coordinates the 'GSF'/MDT meetings that we hold regularly with other medical staff such as District and MacMillan Nurses for the purpose of discussing patients who have significant and palliative care needs.
Sallyann Ward is the Lead Practice Nurse. Her team consists of Pam Zabawa a Nurse Practicioner, Amelia Powell a Practice Nurse and Laura Hussellbee a Practice Nurse.
All the above play a key part in the practice clinical team; they work independently and liaise with the doctors where necessary. They all hold relevant recognised professional qualifications and run various health promotion clinics including asthma, COPD, diabetic, well woman/well man, coronary heart disease, Anti-coagulation monitoring etc. The Nursing Team will also assess and refer patients to other local services such as Weight Management services and Smoking Cessation clinics. Some procedures can only be performed when there is a doctor on the premises. These rules are in place for your safety.
Jackie Hopkins (Level 3 HCA) takes blood, undertakes dressings, performs blood pressure checks on patients, conducts ECGs, gives certain vaccinations, tests routine urine samples and deals with stock control, ordering dressings, sample bottles etc. Katie Friend (Level 3 HCA) training for level 4, takes bloods, performs new patient checks, performs blood pressure checks, ECGs and Health Checks and also assists the Nursing Team where directed.
Our medical secretary, Christine Bailey, deals with all the doctors' referrals, as well as liaising with the hospitals and specialist clinics etc on the Doctors' behalf. She is also secretary to the Practice/Business Manager.
Our practice pharmacists advise on new and existing medications and liaises with the doctors, nurses and practice manager concerning efficient prescribing patterns to ensure that the Practice prescribes appropriate medications for Patients whilst remaining within the prescribing budget set for us by the Walsall Medicines Management Committee. They also assists the practice in the area of prescribing audits and other matters.
Both Practice Pharmacists are available to consult with Patients where a GP or Nurse would like an in-depth review of a patient's medications.
Laura Parton is employed permanently by the practice as a Pharmacy Technician and holds the relevant qualifications, being registered with the GPhC. Her role is to support the GPs, nursing team and administration staff in technical queries concerning the management of medicines and patients' prescribing.
General Practitioner Registrars And Students
Our practice is a training/teaching practice. Our registrars are fully qualified Doctors and have a great deal of hospital experience. Registrars are attached to our practice for 12 months and usually become General Practitioner partners or Salaried GPs in another Practice after completing their training. They are at all times encouraged to seek advice when required from the practice partners.
We are also fortunate to have medical students attached to our practice. If you do not wish to have a student present during your consultation please inform the reception staff prior to seeing the doctor.
