Policy on Accepting Urine Samples on Reception
We will no longer accept urine samples that have not been requested by the clinical team.
If you feel like that you may have a urine infection or other urinary symptoms requiring treatment or intervention, you need to be seen by a Clinician for an assessment. The Clinician can then decide whether collecting a urine sample is clinically necessary and can manage the problem appropriately.
We do not need to routinely dip urine samples to check for resolution of a urinary tract infection.
You can access a Clinician via several routes:
- An Acute/On The Day appointment if patient is unwell - either for that day or the following (if appropriate)
- A routine appointment if the patient is happy to wait
- If we are unable to provide the patient with an appropriate appointment:
- Walk in Centre
- Urgent GP appointments in Walsall - see posters
- Calling 111 out of hours
